can now formally confirm UFC Heavyweight Stipe Miocic has been forced out of his upcoming UFC Fight Night 76 bout against Ben Rothwell because of an unspecified training injury. Both top 10 fighters were scheduled to throw in the co-main occasion of next Saturday’s (October 24, 2015) occasion in Dublin, Ireland, which will be headlined by the lightweight battle involving Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. Miocic (#3 rated HW) was coming off the very impressive performance of his career, a fifth round TKO stoppage of former title challenger Mark Hunt where he place a UFC heavyweight record for the majority of strikes landed at one fight. He’s won four of the last five fights with his only loss being a decision against former winner Junior dos Santos. Rothwell (#7 rated HW) is currently riding a three-fight win streak which included surprising first round upset stoppage successes over the Matt Mitrione and Alistair Overeem. There has been no word yet as to whether UFC matchmakers are going to be able to find a last minute replacement for Miocic or when Rothwell will be forced off the fight card entirely.
